ruffley men

This one is for Minky .

I was wondering how the modern man would cope with ruffles as ruffley as these I found painted on a wall .

Gardening would prove a little difficult, as would ordering a pint in a crowded pub .

But being smaller than your man in ruffles could have an advantage in this sunny weather .

My man ,my mobile ,hands-free parasol .

How modern .

Mary and Stella

This is one of Mary McCartneys photos . I love the colours .

I saw her at the Chelsea flower show . She had some nice cameras.

Then i just remembered i have a talented sister too .

Then I thought, maybe we should all go out for a cuppa and discuss sisterhood and fashion .

I think we may all get on.

By the way -I think we should have an exhibition when you come over to the uk.

type geek

Doing the whole new project has catapolted me into the world of typography .

There are so many versions of letter forms that my head starts to spin after a while .

Plain and simple , isnt that always the best ?

I like Margeret Howells typeface and the new Celine.

But I like these book covers too .

Faber and Faber .

claudie pierlot

When in the beautiful city of Paris ,I was struck by how many lovely labels there were out there that I was relatively unaware of .

Labels ,I think that deserve a lot of recognition in this country, and yours sis.

I know that a lot of people know of Isabel Maret ,but today Im going to ring the fashion bell out load about Claudie Pierlot .(hurrah!)

There is a new Director of Claudie Pierlot who has a great sincerity and has a charming design team.

The partnership with Audrey Marnay is a clever one too ,without looking to cliche,it just seems to work very sweet indeedy .

un moment de Paris

Ive been back

And I seemed to have fallen in love with Paris again .

Even coffee for breakfast .

And at one point walking down Paris-Royal I think i fell right into a Farrow and Ball paint chart .

And now I want to paint my whole studio a murky french grey and polish up my brass fittings .

Just before I left my taxi i found these old photos of Brigette Bardo .

How unbelievable cute and fresh and happy .

NYC.

the weather is great. hot and sunny.

wonderful if you are an old cat basking in the sunlight of your own quiet apartment.

not so great if you are a medly of designers young and old trapped on the 11th floor without any AC

because the fire in the man hole killed all hope of Con Ed in the area.

DKNY Drama-rama.

it all started with a smoking man hole on 40th st .

the street was closed off and we were NOT allowed to leave the building.

computers went out . no phones. general alarm . it was lunchtime. no food.

(except me as i had bought my slim pickings of a lunch to the office.)

of course everyone was wondering if Ken MacMillan had accidentally tosted a butt end down the

man hole in question but at the time of alarm he was no where to be seen.

he later tweeted that due to a flying man hole cover he was safe in a ‘cafe’ somewhere in Noho.

anyway…

after an hour or so we were evacuated out of the building by lots of firemen.

moving quickly down the stairs.

at times like this you cant use the elevators and they both were broken anyway. lets hope

they are fixed tomorrow because hiking 11 flights is not a good way to start the day.

only the very dedicated shoe team didnt hear any of the loud speakers, smell the rancid smoke or wonder why the

computers or phones were not working, because apparently they stayed on the 12 th floor and carried on working.

i wonder what they thought when they realized the entire building was empty except for them.
